Junior Leader Training -- White Stag Leadership Development

Vounteer, Non-profit Program

The White Stag program is a federally registered section 501(C)(3) non-profit organzation. All of our leaders are volunteers who in fact pay their own way at camp. No candidate fees are used to pay for youth or adult staff costs.

We are focused on delivering a leadership development experience to youth from across the west. Founded in 1958, the program has been entirely supported by volunteer parents and community members since its founding.

Our volunteer youth and adult staff work year-round to plan and prepare our summer camps. As a non-profit, we keep our costs low so we can keep our camp fees affordable. Twice each year our youth staff volunteer at the Big Sur Marathon, raising money to help fund the program. In addition to volunteering their time, the youth and adult staff pay for their own food, site fees, and transportation costs throughout the year.

The White Stag Leadership Development Program sponsors the White Stag program. It sponsors a Learning for Life program, a Boy Scout Troop, and Venture Crew 122 on the Monterey Peninsula. Each year about 50 youth staff, mentored by a team of about 20 adult staff, plan and produce a week-long summer camp program for other youth ages 10½-18. The youth plan the menus, write the program plans, develop the ceremonies, manage equipment, and do nearly everything else that can be done without a driver's license and a credit card.

Choose the phase that sounds most fun and fits your age. Space is limited. Apply for camp today.
